What is beef tallow, exactly?

Beef tallow is pure, rendered fat from cattle. While it may sound unusual at first, beef tallow has been used for centuries as a natural moisturizer because its fatty acid profile closely resembles our skin’s natural oils. That means it hydrates and nourishes in a way that feels completely natural.

Why choose tallow over regular lotions?

Most store-bought lotions contain water, preservatives, and synthetic additives that can irritate the skin or just sit on the surface. Tallow penetrates deeply, delivering vitamins A, D, E, and K along with essential fatty acids to actually feed and restore your skin.

Is Greene Grass Tallow safe for sensitive skin?

Yes! Our products are made with simple, natural whole ingredients—no synthetic fragrances, no harsh chemicals, no complicated formulas. That makes them safe for children, babies, and anyone with sensitive or reactive skin. **Remember it is up to you to proceed with caution or not use at all if you are allergic or sensitive to any ingredients listed on our products.**

What can I use it for?

Our customers use Greene Grass Tallow for:

  • Everyday moisturizer (face, hands, and body)
  • Diaper rash and baby skincare
  • Chapped lips and dry patches
  • Minor scrapes, burns, or cuts
  • Eczema or irritated skin
  • Protecting skin in dry or cold weather

It’s truly an all-purpose moisturizer.

Will it make my skin greasy?

Not at all. While tallow is rich, it absorbs quickly into the skin. A little goes a long way, and you’ll notice a soft, hydrated finish rather than a heavy or oily residue.

Why don’t you use essential oils?

We keep our formulas simple and gentle. Essential oils, while popular, can sometimes irritate sensitive skin. That’s why we rely on whole ingredients like olive oil, shea butter, raw honey, and vanilla beans—safe, soothing, and effective.

Where do you source your tallow?

We only use premium locally sourced beef suet from cattle here in Wisconsin. Each batch is rendered, mixed, and packaged by hand in our own kitchen, so you know where your product is coming from.
